Brain Computer Interface Communication Device for Late-Stage ALS

This research study is testing the Cognixion Axon-R, a brain computer interface (BCI) device that uses augmented reality glasses to help people with late-stage ALS communicate. The device reads brain signals from sensors placed on your scalp and translates them into words or messages you can share with others. Researchers want to understand how easy it is for people to learn to use this device, whether eye-tracking works well as an additional control method, and whether artificial intelligence personalization improves communication quality.

People with advanced ALS often lose the ability to speak and move, making communication extremely difficult. This trial exists to develop and improve communication tools that can help people with severe ALS stay connected to their loved ones and caregivers.
