Understanding balance problems in fibromyalgia patients

Researchers want to understand why people with fibromyalgia often have trouble with balance and why their nervous systems become extra-sensitive to pain and sensations. This study will compare balance and sensory measurements between people diagnosed with fibromyalgia and healthy volunteers to see if there's a connection between how sensitive the nervous system becomes and balance difficulties.

Between 45–68% of fibromyalgia patients experience balance problems that increase their risk of falls and reduce quality of life. However, doctors don't yet understand exactly why this happens. This research aims to uncover the link between fibromyalgia's effects on the nervous system and balance problems so that better treatments can be developed.
