This study doesn't follow the usual testing phases — it may be an observational study or a different type of research.
This study is testing a new support program called TAIL-PrEP designed to help people who are using or considering stopping cabotegravir-LA or lenacapavir—two newer long-acting injectable medications for HIV prevention. The program offers personalized coaching and, for some participants, monthly blood tests to monitor medication levels and help guide safer decisions when stopping treatment.
Long-acting injectable HIV prevention is promising because it requires fewer visits than daily pills, but when people stop taking these medications, the drug can stay in their body at levels that may not fully protect against HIV. This study exists to figure out how to safely support people through the stopping process so they don't abandon HIV prevention altogether.

If you have already stopped the injections, you will collect your own blood samples at home monthly and mail them to the study team, complete monthly surveys, and have monthly coaching sessions—continuing until medication levels are undetectable (roughly 6 months) or for up to 12 months. If you are considering stopping, you will attend one personalized coaching session to discuss your options. All sessions happen by video call.
