Plain-English translation of NCT06876233 on ClinicalTrials.gov ↗ ·
This study doesn't follow the usual testing phases — it may be an observational study or a different type of research.
This trial is testing whether a smartphone app called Wellth, combined with daily financial rewards and habit-building strategies, can help people with high blood pressure take their medications more consistently. The study will compare three groups: people who receive daily rewards for taking their blood pressure pills, people who receive rewards plus habit-planning support, and a comparison group. Researchers want to see if these tools can help people stay on their medication long-term and improve their blood pressure control.
Many people with high blood pressure struggle to take their medications regularly, which can lead to serious health problems and higher medical costs. This trial is testing whether combining reminders, small daily rewards, and habit-planning strategies can make it easier for people to stick with their medication routine.

You will be part of this study for 2 years. You will complete 5 online surveys spaced throughout the study and submit your blood pressure readings for 7 days after each survey. If you are in one of the two active treatment groups, you will use the Wellth smartphone app for 4 months to take daily photos of your blood pressure pills and receive small daily rewards. You will also receive text messages with medication tips and check-ins throughout the study. Some participants may be invited for a 30-minute interview to share what helped them succeed.
