Testing a medication to help cancer patients maintain weight during treatment

This trial is testing whether Megestrol Acetate Nano-crystalline Oral Suspension can help people with advanced digestive system cancers (like stomach, colon, or liver cancer) maintain their body weight and muscle mass while undergoing targeted cancer therapy. Cancer cachexia—severe weight loss and muscle wasting caused by cancer—is a common and serious side effect that weakens patients and makes treatment harder. This study will track whether the medication helps prevent or reduce this problem.

Advanced digestive cancers often cause patients to lose dangerous amounts of weight and muscle, which weakens their ability to fight the disease and tolerate treatment. There is a real need to find effective ways to help patients maintain their strength and nutrition during targeted cancer therapy.
