Plain-English translation of NCT06971159 on ClinicalTrials.gov ↗ · Source last updated ·
This study doesn't follow the usual testing phases — it may be an observational study or a different type of research.
This trial is testing two types of physical treatments for people with obesity: vibration therapy (standing on a vibrating platform) and osteopathic manipulative treatment (hands-on manual therapy). Researchers want to see whether these treatments alone or combined can improve your overall health, including blood pressure, fitness, body composition, and quality of life.
Currently, there are limited non-medication treatment options for obesity that are easy to access and safe. This trial explores whether these physical therapies might help people with obesity improve their health markers and fitness without surgery or medications.

You will be assigned to one of three groups: vibration therapy alone, manual osteopathic treatment alone, or a combination of both. If in the vibration group, you'll stand on a special vibrating platform for 9 short sessions (1 minute vibration, 1 minute rest) during each visit. If in the manual treatment group, you'll receive hands-on therapy focusing on your neck, spine, and breathing muscles for about 15 minutes per session. Before and after your 12 sessions, the research team will measure your blood pressure, body measurements, strength, flexibility, blood work, and ask about your quality of life.
