Testing AI to Detect Heart Amyloidosis From Heart Tracings

Researchers are testing a new artificial intelligence tool called Willem™ ECG Analysis platform to see if it can reliably detect early signs of transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis (a condition where abnormal proteins build up in the heart) by analyzing standard heart tracings. The study will compare the AI's ability to spot this condition in patients who have been confirmed to have it versus those who don't. This research could help doctors catch this serious heart condition much earlier using a simple, inexpensive test that's already done routinely.

Early diagnosis of this heart condition can dramatically improve treatment outcomes, but it's often missed because the signs can be subtle. Since standard heart tracings are already done frequently and are non-invasive and low-cost, teaching artificial intelligence to spot the telltale patterns could make early detection much easier for patients everywhere.
