Improving how kidney transplant centers reach patients faster

This research study is testing whether changes to how kidney transplant centers manage patient referrals can help more people with end-stage kidney disease get access to transplant evaluation. The study involves five major transplant centers that will use improved communication tools and strategies—like better ways to contact patients and track referrals—to reduce delays in the transplant process.

Many people with kidney failure face barriers when trying to start transplant evaluation, even after being referred to a transplant center. This study wants to find out whether better organizational systems and communication methods at transplant centers can remove these barriers and get more patients evaluated and on the waiting list faster.
