Tracking how often blockages return after carotid artery surgery

This research study is tracking patients across the Czech Republic who undergo carotid endarterectomy — a surgical procedure to remove plaque buildup from the carotid arteries in the neck. The study wants to understand how often these arteries become blocked again after surgery, and what factors might make it more or less likely to happen. Researchers will follow you closely with imaging tests and blood work to gather this important information.

Carotid artery blockages can lead to stroke, which is why surgery is sometimes needed to prevent this. However, sometimes the blockage can return even after surgery. This study exists to understand exactly how often this happens and identify what we can do to prevent it from recurring.
