Long-term outcomes of interferon treatment for hepatitis B in high-risk families

This is a real-world study testing pegylated interferon α-2b combined with other antiviral medications to treat chronic hepatitis B in families where the disease has been particularly severe. Researchers want to understand whether adding this medication to standard treatment improves long-term outcomes compared to standard treatment alone, especially for people whose liver disease has already progressed to cirrhosis or who are at high risk of developing it.

Chronic hepatitis B remains a serious public health problem, and many patients progress to severe liver damage, cirrhosis, or liver cancer despite current treatments. This study aims to see whether this medication can help prevent or slow that progression in families where hepatitis B has caused the most harm.
