Breast Reconstruction After Cancer Surgery and Radiation

This is a nationwide study looking at breast reconstruction options for women who have had breast cancer surgery and radiation therapy. The study will follow patients who choose different approaches—getting reconstruction before radiation, after radiation, or not having reconstruction at all—to understand which options work best, how satisfied patients are, and what complications might occur.

Doctors need better information to help patients make informed choices about breast reconstruction when radiation is needed. This treatment can increase the risk of complications, but there hasn't been enough quality research comparing the different timing and types of reconstruction to guide these important decisions.
