Plain-English translation of NCT07206186 on ClinicalTrials.gov โ ยท
This study doesn't follow the usual testing phases โ it may be an observational study or a different type of research.
This trial is testing whether listening to music during eye surgery can help reduce anxiety and improve how you feel during the procedure. Researchers will compare patients who listen to their choice of music during surgery with patients who don't listen to music, to see if music makes a real difference in reducing worry and improving comfort.
Many patients feel anxious before and during surgery, which can affect pain, recovery, and satisfaction. While anti-anxiety medications can help, they come with side effects. This trial exists to find out whether music โ a safe, inexpensive, non-drug option โ might be an effective way to calm patients naturally during surgery.
If you join this study, you'll first complete a short anxiety questionnaire before surgery. Then you'll be randomly assigned to either listen to music of your choice during surgery or to have surgery without music. If assigned to music, you'll listen through a speaker in the operating room while you're being put to sleep and again as you're waking up after surgery. After you recover, you'll answer a few more questions about how you felt during the experience.
