Helping people with HIV and substance use navigate care options

This study is testing whether giving people a choice of local HIV prevention and addiction treatment services — combined with help from a trained peer navigator — works better than standard navigation alone. The peer navigator is someone who has lived through similar struggles and can help you overcome barriers to getting care.

People involved with the criminal justice system often have trouble accessing HIV prevention and addiction treatment, even when they want help. This trial is testing whether letting people choose from available community services — with support from someone who understands their challenges — leads to better health outcomes and sustainable treatment engagement.
