Testing a tiny tube implant to lower eye pressure in glaucoma

This trial is testing the PRESERFLO™ MicroShunt XI, a tiny surgically implanted tube designed to help lower pressure inside the eye for people with open-angle glaucoma. The device works by creating a small passageway that allows excess fluid (called aqueous humor) to drain from the front of the eye to a small pocket under the eye's outer layer, reducing eye pressure. Researchers are collecting safety and performance information on this device, which has already been approved for use in Europe.

Open-angle glaucoma can cause blindness if eye pressure isn't controlled, but some patients' pressure stays too high even when using the maximum tolerated eye drops. This trial exists to gather real-world safety and effectiveness data on this treatment option for people whose medications are no longer working well enough.
