Testing a Virtual Health Educator to Encourage Cancer Screening

This trial is testing a new way to help American Indian patients in Oklahoma get screened for colorectal cancer. Researchers have created a virtual health educator—a lifelike 3D character—that can talk with you about cancer screening, answer your questions, and help you understand your options. The goal is to see if this virtual educator can work as well as meeting with a real health educator in person, but reach more people in rural communities.

Colorectal cancer screening saves lives, but American Indian communities in Oklahoma have much lower screening rates than the rest of the country. Many people live far from screening centers, and there aren't enough in-person health educators to reach everyone. This trial exists to test whether a virtual health educator can overcome these barriers and make screening information more accessible.
