Pain relief options after hip surgery in older adults

Hip surgery can cause significant pain, especially in older adults, and poorly controlled pain can slow recovery and lead to serious complications. This trial is testing a modern pain-management technique called a PENG block — a nerve block that numbs the hip area while preserving muscle strength — combined with different medication combinations to find the best way to control pain after surgery.

Doctors know that this nerve-blocking technique works well, but they don't yet know which additional medications work best alongside it to keep pain controlled for the longest time and help older patients recover faster.
