This study doesn't follow the usual testing phases โ it may be an observational study or a different type of research.
This study is testing a new type of mindfulness tool โ an interactive ChatGPT-powered chatbot that guides you through brief breathing exercises and asks you questions about your experience. Researchers want to see if this interactive, conversational approach works better than just listening to a recorded audio guide or doing a mind-wandering exercise. The goal is to understand whether talking to an AI chatbot while practicing mindfulness can help reduce stress, anxiety, and negative feelings more effectively.
Many apps and programs offer short mindfulness exercises through audio recordings, but research shows mixed results โ some people benefit, but others don't. Researchers think this might be because audio-only recordings can feel passive and impersonal. This trial explores whether adding interactive conversation with an AI chatbot โ more like having a real instructor ask you questions โ could make mindfulness practices more engaging and helpful.

You would be randomly assigned to one of three groups: either a 15-minute interactive mindfulness breathing session with an AI chatbot, a mind-wandering session with an AI chatbot, or a traditional audio-guided breathing exercise. During your session, if you're in one of the chatbot groups, the AI will guide you through the exercise step-by-step and ask you reflective questions about your experience. Before and after, you'll answer questions about your stress levels, mood, and attention. The entire study involves one session of about 15 minutes plus brief surveys.
