Researchers want to understand how the tongue changes when children and teenagers with obesity go through a structured weight loss program. Using ultrasound โ a safe, painless imaging technique โ they'll take pictures of the tongue before the program starts and again after 30 weeks to see what has changed. This research may help doctors better understand how obesity affects the tongue and airways, which could eventually improve care for sleep and breathing problems.
Children with obesity often have sleep and breathing problems, and the tongue may play a role. By measuring how the tongue changes during weight loss, researchers hope to better understand these connections and find new ways to help young people with obesity.

If you join, you'll have two ultrasound scans of your tongue โ one at the beginning of the weight loss program and one after 30 weeks. The ultrasound is done under the chin, takes just a few minutes, and is completely painless. You'll also have simple measurements taken (height, weight, neck size) and answer some questions about sleep and breathing. Everything is non-invasive and poses no risk.
