How a common antidepressant works in older adults with memory problems

This is an observational study — meaning researchers watch and collect information from regular doctor visits rather than conducting a formal experiment. The study focuses on how trazodone hydrochloride (prolonged release) works in real-world clinical practice for people aged 55 and older who have major depression and mild cognitive impairment (early memory problems). Researchers will gather information from three countries — Italy, Poland, and Romania — to understand how well this medication helps patients with this combination of conditions.

Many older adults experience both depression and early memory loss at the same time, but there is limited real-world evidence about how well this medication works specifically for this group of patients. This study aims to fill that gap by collecting practical information from everyday clinical care.
