Teaching foot care to people with diabetes on kidney dialysis

This trial is testing whether a structured foot care education program—designed specifically for people with diabetes who receive kidney dialysis—can help you learn better foot care habits and reduce your risk of serious foot problems. Half of the participants will receive the education program, and half will not, so researchers can see whether the education makes a real difference. The program is based on the Health Belief Model, which is a framework that helps people understand and change their health behaviors.

People with diabetes who also need kidney dialysis are at very high risk for foot ulcers and amputation—serious complications that can be prevented with good foot care knowledge and habits. Right now, there isn't much research on how nurse-led foot care education specifically helps this group of patients, so this trial aims to fill that gap and help protect dialysis patients from these preventable complications.
