Testing HIV prevention injections through mobile health vans

This trial is testing whether lenacapavir, a new HIV prevention injection, can be successfully offered and used by people experiencing housing instability in Los Angeles County. Researchers will work with mobile health vans that already visit shelters, encampments, and community centers to offer the medication alongside other health services. The goal is to see whether bringing this treatment directly to people—instead of requiring them to visit a clinic—makes it easier to access and use.

People experiencing homelessness or housing instability face major barriers to HIV prevention, including competing priorities like finding food and shelter, difficulty accessing traditional clinics, and gaps in health information. This study aims to discover whether offering the medication through mobile vans that come to people can help overcome these barriers and make HIV prevention more accessible.
