Understanding how a new HIV prevention injection works in real-world clinics

This is an observational study following people who are at risk for HIV and choose to use lenacapavir (a new injectable HIV prevention medication) or other prevention options at their clinic. Researchers want to understand how people actually use this medication in everyday clinical practice — whether they stick with it, how it's started, and whether they switch to other options. The study will track about 3,000 people across diverse clinic settings in the United States for one year.

While this medication has been approved by the FDA for HIV prevention, doctors and patients need real-world information about how well people stay on the treatment and how it fits into their lives. This study fills that gap by watching how the medication works outside of controlled research settings.
