Understanding drug use at parties and developing safer practices

HAMMOCK is a research study that explores how gay and bisexual men use drugs at private parties in Bangkok, Thailand. Researchers want to understand the health risks involved — including risks around substance use, sexual health, mental health, and infections — so they can develop a new support model that keeps people safer. The study includes conversations with party hosts, guests, community organizations, hospital workers, and police.

Drug use at private parties can create serious health and safety risks, but there is little research into what's actually happening or how to help people stay safe. This study exists to fill that gap and create practical, realistic approaches to harm reduction that work in real-world party settings.
