Robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery for gastric cancer

This trial is an international registry — essentially a large database — that tracks patients with gastric cancer who have robot-assisted minimally invasive gastrectomy, a newer surgical approach where the surgeon uses robotic tools to remove part or all of the stomach through very small incisions. Researchers want to collect real-world data on how well this robotic approach works compared to traditional open surgery, including how patients recover, their quality of life afterward, and whether the cancer outcomes are just as good.

While robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery shows promise for reducing pain, shortening hospital stays, and improving recovery compared to traditional open surgery, there is still limited data on long-term outcomes and whether cancer survival rates are truly comparable. This registry aims to gather comprehensive information from centers around the world to better understand the true benefits and safety of this newer surgical approach for gastric cancer patients.
