This is a long-term study that looks at medical records and health information from patients with intestinal tuberculosis — a serious infection of the digestive system caused by tuberculosis bacteria. Researchers want to understand which patients are at higher risk of dying from this condition, and what factors (like age, disease severity, or how well patients follow treatment) predict worse outcomes. The study combines two approaches: looking back at 15 years of patient records, then following newly diagnosed patients going forward to confirm what the researchers learn.

Intestinal tuberculosis is a life-threatening condition, but doctors don't have clear guidelines about which patients need more intensive care or monitoring.
