How gender affects experiences in borderline personality disorder

This study is looking at how gender—including being a woman, man, or non-binary person—affects the lives and relationships of people with borderline personality disorder (BPD). Researchers want to understand whether people of different genders experience BPD differently, and whether they face different kinds of stigma or judgment from others because of their gender identity.

Past research has shown that people with BPD face a lot of stigma and discrimination that can worsen their mental health. However, no one has carefully studied whether this stigma affects men, women, and non-binary people differently. This study exists to fill that gap and help doctors and society better understand and support all people with BPD, regardless of gender.
