What is this trial?

ALZEVIT is a nationwide study that aims to identify people at higher genetic risk for Alzheimer's disease by testing their DNA. Researchers will use this information to create a group of people who are ready to participate in future prevention trials, before symptoms of memory loss appear. The study is looking for 50,000 adults across France to participate.

New Alzheimer's treatments work best when started early, before significant brain damage occurs. However, doctors need a way to identify people at highest risk before symptoms begin. This study aims to create that system by identifying genetic risk factors and building a ready group of participants for future prevention trials.

Do you qualify?

You likely qualify if…

you are at least 45 years old
you live in France and are covered by French national health insurance
you can read and understand French or have a legal representative to help
you have internet access and a valid email address
you are able to collect and mail back a saliva sample using a kit provided by the study

You likely don't qualify if…

you have memory problems, dementia, or serious psychiatric conditions that would prevent you from understanding the study
you have struggled with alcohol or drug dependence in the past 24 months
you cannot be reliably reached by email or phone
you are legally protected, under guardianship, or do not have the ability to give your own informed consent
you work as a staff member for this study or are a family member of someone who does

What participation looks like

You will sign an electronic consent form and provide a saliva sample by mail using a kit sent to you. The study will test your DNA to determine your genetic risk profile for Alzheimer's disease. After that, you will be followed over time with periodic check-ins through digital tools and surveys to track how your memory and thinking change. The study is designed to be done mostly from home, using the internet.
