Testing a new medication combined with existing drugs for newly diagnosed blood cancer

This is a phase 2 trial testing whether MAX-40279—a new oral medication—works when combined with two existing drugs called venetoclax and azacitidine to treat newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (a serious blood cancer) in people who cannot tolerate standard intensive chemotherapy. The trial is trying to find the safest and most effective dose of the new medication. Researchers will monitor how well the combination works and watch for any side effects.

People who are older or have other health conditions often cannot receive the standard, intensive chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukemia because it can be too harsh on their bodies. This trial exists to test whether this new medication, combined with gentler existing drugs, might offer a better option for these patients.
