Understanding how life experiences affect multiple sclerosis in young adults

This research study is trying to understand how difficult experiences earlier in life — like poverty, trauma, or discrimination — might affect how multiple sclerosis develops and progresses in young adults. Researchers will talk directly with patients, collect blood samples and brain scans, and listen to their experiences living with MS. The goal is to make sure that MS research and care better serves communities that have been left out of studies in the past.

Many MS research studies don't include enough Black, Hispanic, and low-income patients, so doctors don't fully understand how this disease affects these communities. This study exists to fill that gap and to learn whether life stressors and hardships play a role in MS outcomes — knowledge that could help doctors provide better, more personalized care.
