Testing advanced ultrasound imaging for pancreas and thyroid

Researchers are testing a new ultrasound method called multiparametric ultrasound imaging (mpUS) to see if it can provide clearer, more detailed pictures of pancreatic and thyroid tissue than standard ultrasound. This advanced imaging combines several ultrasound techniques to show not just tissue structure, but also blood vessels and blood flow. The goal is to help doctors better identify whether nodules or suspicious areas are cancerous or benign.

Standard ultrasound gives doctors basic pictures of tissue, but doctors sometimes struggle to tell the difference between cancer and non-cancerous growths. This new imaging method may be better at detecting cancer because it shows much more detail about how tissues are structured and how blood flows through them.
