Understanding Muscle Stiffness Patterns in Multiple Sclerosis

This study is designed to better understand the patterns of muscle stiffness (called spasticity) that occur in people with multiple sclerosis. Researchers will evaluate how stiffness affects your arms and legs, measure how it impacts your ability to walk and use your hands, and assess how it affects your overall quality of life. The goal is to create a clearer classification system that can help doctors develop more personalized treatment plans.

Muscle stiffness is very common in multiple sclerosis — affecting about 6 in 10 patients — and it can make daily activities harder and more painful. However, doctors don't yet have a clear understanding of how stiffness patterns vary from person to person with MS, which makes it difficult to recommend the best treatments. This study aims to fill that gap so treatment can be better tailored to individual needs.
