Vitamin D and Calcium for Bone Health in Pregnant Women With Epilepsy

This trial is testing whether vitamin D and calcium supplementation can improve bone health and pregnancy outcomes in women with epilepsy. Women with epilepsy often have weaker bones because some seizure medications affect how the body uses vitamin D and calcium. This study will compare women who receive vitamin D and calcium supplements to women who receive standard pregnancy care, and will measure bone health in both the mothers and their babies.

Women taking seizure medications are at higher risk for weak bones, which can affect both their health and their baby's bone development. Doctors want to know if this medication can prevent those problems and lead to better outcomes for both mother and child.
